Working Meeting Held between SIPA and RS Ministry of Interior

On 4 June 2013, in line with conclusions from the meeting held on 23 May 2013 between Mr Goran Zubac, Director of SIPA and Mr Radislav Jovičić, Minister of Interior of the Republic of Srpska, an operational meeting was held between representatives of SIPA ad RS Ministry of Interior at the official premises of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA).
The Director of SIPA, his Assistants and Heads of Investigation Departments attended the meeting and the RS Ministry of Interior was represented by the Director of Police, Heads of Public Security Centres, Head of Criminal Police Administration and Heads of Departments within the Criminal Police. The overview of the current security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina was discussed at the meeting, as well as finding appropriate responses to security threats.
It was concluded that the cooperation between SIPA and RS Ministry of Interior was satisfactory. However, taking into consideration material equipment and human resources at the disposal of these police authorities, it requires improvement. It was also concluded that the cooperation needed to be reflected in daily communication between head police officials and officials engaged directly in the field. A joint position was adopted that for the most complex investigations of terrorism, organised crime and corruption, joint investigative teams needed to be formed and take over specific activities and measures, under the supervision by competent Prosecutor’s Offices, with the aim of finalising criminal processing and prosecution of perpetrators.
Finally, improved coordination, cooperation and expedient information and intelligence exchange in relation to war crimes was pointed out. It was agreed that similar meetings needed to be held both at strategic and operational level in the future for the purpose of improved utilisation of the existing capacities and more efficient results within the competences of these police authorities.
