WINPRO II Team Presented with SIPA Recognition Award

Today 22/05/2014 – Representatives of the Project “Cooperation in Criminal Justice: Witness Protection in the Fight against Serious Crime and Terrorism (WINPRO II)” Team Leader Joe Fleming and expert George Stanica visited the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA).

Director Zubac presented Joe Fleming with embedded emblem of SIPA, the highest recognition of the Agency, for an exceptional contribution of the WINPRO II Team to a professional development of SIPA Witness Protection Department. The project activities were of a particular importance for enhancement of international cooperation as an important prerequisite for efficient witness protection. The project generally contributed to the achievement of SIPA strategic objectives reflected in strengthening the capacities and reaching the highest professional standards in all segments of work. The Project was funded by the European Union IPA 2012 multi-beneficiary programme implemented by the Northern Ireland Cooperation Overseas (NICO).

Joe Fleming thanked for the recognition and said the project activities will be continued as well as that the recognition he received on behalf of the WINPRO II Team confirms success of the project activities. Moreover he praised the SIPA Witness Protection Department as a reliable partner to the countries in the region and beyond.

Director Zubac announced that the SIPA embedded emblem will be presented also to the Witness Protection Unit of Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia for an exceptionally successful cooperation in the previous period.
