Suspects Involved in Customs Frauds Apprehended

 

Today, 03.08.2011, police officials of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) apprehended 11 persons in Banja Luka, Prijedor, Gradiška and Kozarska Dubica due to grounded suspicion of having committed the criminal offence of organised crime and in connection with the criminal offence of abuse of office and official authority and customs frauds.
The search of 12 locations used by the apprehended persons resulted in discovery and seizure of mobile phones, SIM cards, computers, USBs, and documents.
After criminal processing in SIPA premises, the apprehended persons will be handed over to the B&H Prosecutor's Office, upon whose orders the operation was carried out, together with the report on the offence committed under Article 250 of the B&H CC (Organised Crime) and in connection with the offences under Article 216 (Customs Fraud) and 220 of the B&H CC (Abuse of Office and Official Authority).
The operation was carried out in cooperation with the Indirect Taxation Administration and RS Ministry of Interior and is a follow-up of the SIPA's activities aiming at prevention of abuses of international transport of goods and services between B&H and neighbouring countries.
Police officials will continue similar activities in the future period.
