Smuggled Excise Goods Discovered

A large quantity of smuggled and illegally sold and stored food products and tobacco were discovered in an extensive police operation conducted today, 22.12.2011 in 15 locations in Gradačac, Brčko, Arizona market, Bijeljina, Široki Brijeg and Grude.
The operation codenamed „Arizona“, which started during early morning hours, resulted in discovery of about 23.186 kg of loose tobacco, huge amount of rolling paper and small rolling machines, 10 mobile phones, computer, about 15.000 „Milka“ chocolates, large quantity of “Nutela” products, chewing gums, meat pastes, tea, „Red Bull“ energy drink, original labels for all kinds of coloured alcoholic drinks (vlahov, cognac, whiskey), bottles and plugs, pure bulk alcohol, emulsion for colouring alcohol, firecrackers, pistol and documentation related to business and sale of the products.

Criminal processing of the persons suspected of committing the criminal offence of organised crime and in connection with the criminal offence of smuggling, illicit trade of excise goods, illicit storage of goods, and illicit trafficking, is in process.
The operation, carried out pursuant to orders of the B&H Court and Prosecutor’s Office was carried out by the police officials of the State Investigation and Protection Agency, members of the Bijeljina Public Security Centre of the MoI of Republic of Srpska, Brčko District Police, Ministries of Interior of Tuzla and Western Herzegovina Cantons as well as Indirect Taxation Administration and Tax Administration of Brčko District. Police officials of the State Investigation and Protection Agency will continue similar activities in the future period.
