SIPA's Impressive Work Results in the First Quarter of 2010

In the first quarter of 2010, the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), although the smallest and youngest police agency in Bosnia and Herzegovina, recorded an increase of almost all parameters for measuring efficiency, when compared to the fourth quarter of 2009.

Analysis of the SIPA's work programme implementation for the first quarter of 2010 indicated that SIPA's police officials achieved significant progress in detecting criminal offences, carrying out activities upon requests and orders from the Prosecutor's Office of B&H and the Court of B&H, submitted reports on committed criminal offences, detection and apprehension of perpetrators of the criminal offences, and development and processing of criminal-intelligence reports (KOI).

Detected criminal offences: In carrying out daily measures and activities from their competence, SIPA's police officials solved 86 criminal cases in the first quarter of 2010. When compared to the fourth quarter of 2009, when 54 cases were solved, it indicates an increase of 59,26%.

Activities upon requests and orders from the Prosecutor's Offices and Courts in B&H: Successful cooperation between the State Investigation and Protection Agency and competent Prosecutor's Offices and Courts was continued in 2010, resulting in an increase of the number of successfully carried out requests and orders from these judicial authorities (364), when compared to the previous year when 203 orders were carried out, indicating an increase of 19,74%.

Submitted reports on committed criminal offences: A significant increase of 107,89% was also recorded on the number of submitted reports on committed criminal offences. From January to April 2010, 79 reports were submitted, and from September to December 2009 38 reports on committed criminal offences were submitted.

Detected and apprehended perpetrators of criminal offences: In the first quarter of 2010, SIPA's officials apprehended 37 individuals or 2,78 % more than in the fourth quarter 2009, when 36 individuals were apprehended.

Development of KOI: In the first three months of this year, 1,054 criminal-intelligence reports were submitted and, when compared to the last quarter of 2009 when 641 reports were submitted, it indicates a 64,43 % increase.

Processing of KOI: The most significant increase of 109,79 % was achieved in processing KIO. Represented in numbers, in the first quarter of 2010 1.414 KOI were processed, and 674 reports were processed in the last quarter of 2009.

In the opinion of the members of the Agency's working collegium, led by the director Mirko Lujić, the results of the State Investigation and Protection Agency proved once again that it is a respectable agency prepared to efficiently combat all types of crime.
