SIPA's Excellent Work Results in 2011

For the second year in a row, the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) has recorded progress in detection and investigation of criminal offences from its competence, indicated by the work results in the first quarter of 2011.

In comparison to first quarter of 2010, in the first quarter of 2011 SIPA has recorded improved work results, over 50% in average, and within the following parameters: carried out investigations, detected criminal offences, activities upon orders and requests from the Prosecutor's Office of B&H and the Court of B&H, submitted reports on carried out measures and activities, detected and apprehended perpetrators of criminal offences, submitted reports on existence of grounds for suspicion of committing a criminal offence, number of operational activities carried out upon orders from the Court of B&H and the Prosecutor’s Office of B&H, carried out searches and seizures of evidential material, carried out interviews, statements taken for records, composed criminal intelligence reports, processed criminal intelligence reports, and carried out criminal intelligence analyses.

SIPA Recorded Improved Results Second Year in a Row In 2011 50% Better Results than in 2010

Number of activities carried out upon orders from the Court of B&H and the Prosecutor’s Office of B&H In the first quarter of 2011, the State Investigation and Protection Agency’s police officials were operationally engaged 48 times upon orders from the Court of B&H and the Prosecutor’s office of B&H, which is an increase of 118.18% when compared to the same time period in 2010 when they were engaged 22 times.

Carried out searches and seized evidential material In the first quarter of 2011, while documenting criminal offences from SIPA’s competence, police officials carried out 186 searches, or 116.28% more in comparison to the same time period of the previous year, when they carried out 86 searches.

Detected and apprehended perpetrators of criminal offences In the first quarter of 2011, 79 individuals were apprehended, which is a n increase of113.51% in comparison to the first quarter of 2010 when 37 perpetrators of criminal offences were detected and apprehended.

Carried out criminal intelligence analyses In the first three months of 2011, a progress of 75.76% was registered in carrying out criminal intelligence analyses. In the first quarter of the current year, 116 criminal intelligence analyses were carried out, and 66 were carried out in the same time period in 2010.

Processed criminal intelligence reports There was a progress of 37.87% registered in processing criminal intelligence reports. In the first three months of this year, the Agency’s officials processed 1.886 mentioned reports, while in the same time period of 2010 they processed 1.368 criminal intelligence reports.

Detected criminal offences While daily carrying out measures and activities from their competence, the State Investigation and Protection Agency’s police officials detected 135 criminal offences in the first quarter of 2011, which in comparison to the first quarter of 2010, when 100 criminal offences were detected, is an increase of 35%.

Activities upon orders and requests from the Court of B&H and the Prosecutor’s Office of B&H In the first three months of 2011, the Agency’s police officials daily acted upon orders from the Court of B&H and Prosecutor’s Office of B&H in average five times more, or 475 times in total, which is an increase of 33.05% in comparison to the first three months of 2010, when they acted 357 times.

Composed criminal intelligence reports An increase was also recorded in the number of composed criminal intelligence reports. In the first quarter of 2001, 1.350 reports were composed, or 31.96% more in comparison to 1.023 reports composed in the same time period of 2010.

Statements taken for records In the first quarter of 2011, the State Investigation and Protection Agency’s police officials took 798 statements for records, or 30.18% more in comparison to the same time period of the previous year when 613 statements were taken.

Carried out investigations While investigating criminal offences from SIPA’s competence, the State Investigation and Protection Agency’s police officials carried out 353 investigations in the first quarter of 2011, which is an increase of 26.07% in comparison to the first quarter of 2010 when 280 investigations were carried out.

Submitted reports on measures and activities carried out In the first three months of 2011, the Agency’s police officials submitted 308 reports to competent Prosecutor’s Offices on measures and activities carried out with the aim of investigating criminal offences, which is an increase of 23.69% in comparison to the first three months of the previous year when 249 reports were submitted.

Carried out interviews In the first quarter of 2011, the Agency’s officials carried out 1.290 interviews, which is an increase of 21.35% in comparison to the same time period of 2010 when 1.063 interviews were carried out.

Submitted reports on existence of grounds for suspicion of committing a criminal offence The least progress, in terms of percentage, was in the number of submitted reports on existence of grounds for suspicion of committing a criminal offence. In the first three months of 2011, 83 mentioned reports were submitted to competent Prosecutor’s Offices, or 12.16% more in comparison to the same time period in 2010 when 74 such reports were submitted.
 

The State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) will continue its activities in strengthening the Agency in terms of personnel and its material and technical equipping, with the aim of creating a secure environment for all the B&H citizens.
