SIPA Searched Buildings at Two Locations in Tuzla for Impermissible Use of Copyrights

On 29 and 30 April, acting upon orders by the Court of B&H and Prosecutor’s Office of B&H, police officials of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) under the case codenamed “Dječija knjiga” searched buildings at two locations in Tuzla area due to grounds for suspicion of the perpetration of the criminal offence set out in Article 243 of the Criminal Code BH “Impermissible Use of Copyrights “.

Business facilities – a bookstore and warehouse used by the same legal person were searched in this operation. The searches resulted in a seizure of 1693 books by different authors, which were, without the authorisation of the author or other holder of copyright, printed and distributed in the BH territory, a large number of copyright and translation contracts and various financial documentation (transaction cards, invoices, etc.)

SIPA will promptly submit a report on the execution of the orders of the Court BH to the Court BH and Prosecutor’s Office BH while the report on the perpetrated criminal offence and perpetrator against the owner of the business facilities was earlier submitted to the Prosecutor’s Office BH.
