SIPA Management Board Meeting Held - Results in 2013 better than in 2012

On 6 February 2014, a SIPA Management Board meeting was held at the head offices of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), whereby the results from 2013 were discussed. In addition to Mr Goran Zubac, the Director of SIPA, Head of Director’s Cabinet and Heads of SIPA’s organisational units also attended the meeting, as well as a representative from ICITAP.

In 2013, SIPA actively dealt with suppression, detection and investigation of criminal offences within its competence and confirmed its role of the leading police agency in BH and beyond and a reliable partner in international police information exchange and joint investigations with police agencies from the neighbouring and other European countries.

The Management Board concluded that in 2013 SIPA put maximum efforts in the implementation of the SIPA’s Strategy on all lines of work, and overall results, according to all parameters, were better than in 2012.

In 2013, SIPA detected 594 criminal offences, which is 25% more than in 2012 when 477 criminal offences were detected. In 2013, it also apprehended 241 individuals, which is 42% more than in 2012 when 170 individuals were apprehended. In addition, 374 searches were carried out, 14% more than in 2012 when 329 searches were carried out. SIPA carried out 66 operations, 20% more than in 2012 when 55 operations were carried out.

The Director Zubac expressed his satisfaction with the results, congratulated the Heads of the organisational units and announced that successful results would be continued. He said that the work on complex cases would be continued and particular emphasis would still be on combating terrorism, organised crime, economic crime, corruption and war crimes. The importance would also be on reinforcing SIPA investigative, material and technical capacities. All of this would result in developing safer living environment for all BH citizens, which is a duty and main task of SIPA.
