SIPA: In Operation “Sailor” Several Individuals Arrested for Organised Crime

  

Last night, police officials of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) initiated an operation code-named “Sailor” in Banja Luka and Mostar.

During the operation, individuals M.M., Ž.Đ., D.T. and D.M. were arrested due to grounds for suspicion of having committed a criminal offence of organised crime in conjunction with criminal offences of tax evasion or fraud, customs fraud, illegal mediation and abuse of office or authority. In the framework of today’s activities, the individuals I.P. and B.M. were also arrested.

These individuals, as members of an organised criminal group, taking advantage of the state of natural disaster in BH, are suspected of making irregularities while developing a list of damaged goods in certain companies, by forgery and development of false documentation with the aim to present higher damage than the actual and avoid VAT payment for the purpose of obtaining unlawful material gain.

In the framework of the “Sailor” operation, buildings at six locations were searched with the aim to detect and seize items that could be used as evidence in further proceedings. The searches of buildings at several locations will be continued today and carried out in cooperation with members of the Indirect Taxation Authority BH.

Activities within this operation have been carried out upon orders by the Court BH and Prosecutor’s Office BH.

The arrested individuals were brought to the official premises of SIPA in Banja Luka where they are being criminally processed, whereupon it will be decided about their further status in line with instructions by the competent Prosecutor from the Prosecutor’s Office BH.

Activities within this case will be continued, and the public will be duly informed.
