Today, 30/05/2014 – SIPA Special Support Unit members and SIPA Labour Union delivered two vans full of elementary supplies to citizens of Bijeljina and Orašje, which was a modest contribution of SIPA members to the population affected by floods in BiH. The donation was delivered to the Red Cross offices in these two municipalities, which will distribute the food to the most vulnerable citizens.

Organised by the SIPA Labour Union and with the support of the Agency’s Management, over 150 of SIPA members joined the action to assist in cleaning up and repair of flood damage in Doboj, Šamac and Bijeljina.

On 205/2014 SIPA volunteers were involved in cleaning the hospital building in Maglaj while the same day in Doboj they were divided into three teams cleaning buildings of Police Traffic Safety, Public Security Centre and Aged Care Home. SIPA volunteers were deployed on 25/05/2014 in Šamac where they joined the action of cleaning and helping population whose property was affected by floods. Also, one team was headed to Maglaj on 26/05/2014 to help cleaning the building of Maglaj Police Station and residential buildings while on 27/05/2014 they were deployed in Doboj and Bijeljina. The teams, headed to Doboj, helped in cleaning the building of Aged Care Home and Court building in Doboj while the team in Bijeljina, in cooperation with the civil protection, worked on disinfection of residential facilities. The Municipal Court of Doboj sent a letter of thanks to SIPA Director for the help provided by the Agency’s members in cleaning the Court building.
 

These activities were carried out in coordination with local police authorities, which sent the SIPA volunteers to the locations according to the needs.

Volunteer activities will be continued in the future, as well as the initiative of raising funds.

SIPA Labour Union thanked SIPA Management headed by Director Goran Zubac for their support in implementing voluntary activities and providing necessary material and technical resources of the Agency. Also, the Union called on other B&H institutions to join the action of helping vulnerable population.
