Today (19/2/2015) – SIPA Executive Staff meeting attended by Director Goran Zubac, Deputy Director Đuro Knežević, Assistant Director for Criminal Investigation Department Anđelko Hrgić, Head of Sector for Planning, Analytics, Cooperation and Public Relations Ernad Musić, Acting Commander of Special Support Unit Jovica Mirosavljević and Head of Operations Support Sector Zoran Glušac was held today.

The meeting analysed security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the overall SIPA efforts in fighting terrorism and latest results and discussed future plans with special emphasis on preventive actions. In this context, the meeting also reviewed the last operation codenamed “Damask 3” by which SIPA, with its proactive approach, prevented departure of suspects to Syria in order to take part in armed conflict on the side of the terrorist organization “ISIL”. 

It is concluded that the future focus will be on proactive and preventive actions and that all human, material and technical capacities of SIPA will be assigned to the fight against terrorism, which is an absolute priority over other activities.

In the coming period, it is planned to establish a special department to combat terrorism in order to continuously strengthen the Agency’s capacity.  This organisational unit will be consisted of profiled personnel, investigators who passed numerous specialised trainings and worked on the most complex cases of this type.   

“The State Investigation and Protection Agency will take all necessary measures and actions within its legal competence to fight terrorism uncompromisingly and fulfil objectives set by the Strategy and Action Plan for Prevention and Combating of Terrorism.  We are aware that there is no other way.” Director Goran Zubac emphasised.

For this purpose a Special Anti-Terrorist Team has been set up, which will closely cooperate with partner agencies in B&H, region and beyond.

It is concluded that SIPA will continue to cooperate with partners willing to invest all their capacities in fighting terrorism and which will jointly with SIPA be resolute and uncompromising in this fight with the aim of creating a safer environment for B&H citizens, which is a duty and main task of all security structures.
