SIPA Deprived 10 Individuals in ‘Papirus’ Operation

Police officials of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) deprived 10 individuals of liberty under the operation codenamed ‘Papirus’ in the area of Sarajevo and Zvornik due to grounded suspicion of having committed the criminal offence of organised crime in conjunction with criminal offences of forgery of a document and certification of untrue content.

The investigation was under supervision of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor’s Office and was conducted over a long period of time in cooperation with Intelligence Security Agency of B&H, MoI of the Republic of Serbia, Border Police of B&H, Sarajevo Canton MoI, Republika Srpska MoI, Tuzla Canton MoI, Herzegovina-Neretva Canton MoI and Middle Bosnia Canton MoI. In cooperation with these authorities, SIPA collected the evidence corroborating a grounded suspicion that these organised crime group members committed the above criminal offences. With this operation SIPA confronted the organised crime and disrupted the chain involved in stealing identities of B&H citizens, which they used for production of identity documents. 

Based on the investigation so far, it was established that this group acquired false B&H documents for 36 individuals from criminal milieu.

Following criminal processing on SIPA premises, the arrested individuals will be handed over to the acting prosecutor of Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor’s Office for further proceedings.
