SIPA Delegation Visited Hungarian Police Authorities

In the period 5 - 9 May 2013, a delegation of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) was in an official visit to the Hungarian police authorities with the aim of improving cooperation in combating terrorism. The delegation of SIPA, headed by the Assistant Director for the Criminal Investigation Department, along with the Acting Head of Section for Combating Terrorism and Trafficking in Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Weapons, Commander of the “Alfa” Anti-Terrorist Team within the Special Support Unit and SIPA’s officer for international police cooperation, held a working meeting with representatives from the Hungarian Anti-Terrorism Centre (TEK). Thereby, the current situation in anti-terrorism at the international level and directions of joint activities were discussed.
A future joint position and direct exchange of intelligence between the police agencies was agreed at the meeting with the aim of preventive action and appropriate response to all risks threatening the public safety.

During the visit, the Delegation of SIPA met with representatives from the Hungarian National Bureau of Investigation. They discussed cooperation modules for combating organised crime, corruption, illegal migration and terrorism.
In order to establish successful operational cooperation, a return visit from the Hungarian delegation was agreed, whereby representatives from this partner organisation would be introduced to SIPA’s work and further stages of future cooperation would be agreed.
