SIPA Arrested Nine Individuals for War Crimes

On 4 December 2013, police officials of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), acting upon orders by the Prosecutor’s Office BH, in two separate operations apprehended nine individuals due to grounds for suspicion of having committed the criminal offence set out in the Article 172 of the Criminal Code BH “Crimes against Humanity”.

In the framework of these activities, seven individuals with initials S.T., D.B., D.V., D.M., R.K., I.K. and R.Š. were arrested in Kotor Varoš and Banja Luka. These individuals are suspected of participating in the persecution of non-Serb civilians from the Municipality of Kotor Varoš in a systematic attack.

Acting upon orders by the Court BH, police officials of SIPA are carrying out searches of buildings in Kotor Varoš and Banja Luka aimed to detect and seize official documentation originating from the period January 1992 – January 1993, which might be used as evidence in further proceedings.

SIPA also arrested individuals with initials G.V. from Bileća and D.M. from Trebinje for war crimes. In addition, searches of buildings in Bileća and Trebinje are under way.

Upon criminal processing in the official premises of SIPA, the arrested individuals will be handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office BH for further procedure.
