SELEC: Recognition to SIPA for Operations "Franklin" and "Art"

State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) has received notice of SELEC regarding presenting of a six-month award for two operations carried out with the support of SELEC. From a total of 19 nominations, operations codenamed "Franklin" and "Art", in which SIPA participated, received the first prize and a special diploma of SELEC.

SIPA has received recognition for international police cooperation, proving once again that it is a strong and reliable partner in the implementation of international operations, given the fact that its operations were rated among the best executed international police operations.

In August 2014, SIPA started operation codenamed "Franklin", when two individuals were apprehended on the order of the B&H Prosecutor's Office. These individuals were found in the possession of a total of 20,000 counterfeit US dollars in denominations of $ 100. While working on this case, it was determined that these individuals, in the period from 22 July to 26 July 2014, put in payments 12,200 forged US dollars, or 122 banknotes in denominations of $ 100. While working on the case, close cooperation was achieved with the members of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Slovenia, and later on the operation was extended to Montenegro and Romania. The joint operation codenamed "Franklin" was awarded first prize of SELEC.

Operation "Art" was conducted in September 2015 in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Croatia and the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Serbia for the crime of forgery of documents. In this operation, SIPA, acting on orders of the B&H Prosecutor's Office, apprehended three individuals and searched facilities in several locations, while the coordinated activities were carried out in the area of Croatia and Serbia.

Individuals apprehended in the area of Bosnia and Herzegovina were suspected that, in the period from 2013 to 2015 in the area of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, made and sold a variety of fraudulent documents, including: passports, ID cards, driver's license, as well as police badges and the official identity cards of the police agencies, intelligence services and military-security services of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republic of Croatia and other countries in the region. They were also making and selling a variety of diplomas, certificates, and other documents. A special diploma of SELEC was awarded for a joint operation codenamed "Art".
