Sava River Demining Project Continues

The first demining phase of Sava River in Orašje will be implemented in the period 11/8 – 24/8/2013 as a follow up of the project launched last year and in the framework of international bilateral police cooperation between Check Republic and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In addition to the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), as the main implementer of the project, and the Department for Special Diving Activities and Training of Czech Police (Brno), the project is prepared and implemented also by the B&H Ministry of Security, B&H Ministry of Defence, Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, B&H Border Police, BH MAC, Federal Administration for Civil Protection, Posavina Canton Civil Protection Administration, Luka Brčko Public Company, MoI of Posavina Canton, Odžak and Orašje Municipalities including the Embassy of Check Republic in Sarajevo and authorities of the Republic of Croatia (Croatian MoI, Croatian Border Police, National Protection and Rescue Directorate of the Republic of Croatia, Vukovar-Syrmia County and Brod-Posavina County). Continuation of the Sava River demining activities is planned in the following periods: the second phase: 3/9 – 16/9/2013 in Odžak and the third phase: 22/9 – 4/10/2013 in Odžak.
The initial Sava River demining activities to remove mines left over from the previous war were carried out in the period 3/9 - 12/9/2012, when the project started.
