Press Conference on International Operation Code-Named “Šetač”

On 13 April 2013, a press conference was held at the official premises of the Trebinje Public Security Centre on the international operation code-named “Šetač”, carried out under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro and Serbia.

At the press conference, Mr Oleg Čavka, Prosecutor from the Prosecutor’s Office BH, said that the organised criminal group, against which the operation had been carried out, was not the most powerful criminal group in the region. However, the operation carried out was the most powerful police operation in the region, in the framework of which police had not cooperated but worked together. He pointed out that the operation had been carried out simultaneously in all four countries and the suspects had been immediately arrested, which demonstrated that they could not hide from the police.

Mr Dragan Nosović, Head of the Trebinje Public Security Centre, Mr Slaven Rosić, Head of the South-East Europe Law Enforcement Centre (SELEC), Ms Dijana Kajmaković, Prosecutor from the Prosecutor’s Office BH, Ms Kristina Jozić, Police Official from SIPA and Mr Toni Škrinjar, Liaison Officer from the Embassy of Croatia in Bosnia and Herzegovina also spoke about the success of the operation.

In the operation code-named “Šetač”, 48 individuals were arrested, more than 350 kg of skunk was seized, as well as half a kilo of heroin and substantial quantity of explosive devices in four countries. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, 18 individuals were arrested on account of the perpetration of the criminal offence of organised crime in conjunction with the criminal offence of illicit trafficking in narcotics and other criminal offences.

In the framework of this operation, members of the State Investigation and Protection Agency searched premises at six locations and arrested seven individuals.
