Police Board for Citizens Complaints against Police Conduct Begins Its Work

The Police Board for citizens' complaints against police conduct in B&H operates exclusively based on professional grounds, not representing, protecting, nor undermining the interests of any political party, registered organisation or any ethnicity in B&H.
Among other things, the Board is authorised to receive, register, assess and forward complaints against police officials conduct and refer them to competent police authorities, monitor phases of the case, initiate adequate procedure against a complaint applicant in a case of false or biased complaint, keep records and manage databases on citizens' complaints against B&H police officials, outcomes of investigations and other elements based on which a disciplinary or criminal procedure has been initiated, and disclose all complaint related information to the complaint applicant as well.
Citizens' complaints against conduct of police officials of B&H police authorities are filed in a written form and they need to contain the following information:
- first and last name of the complaint applicant;
- contact information of the complaint applicant;
- explanation of complaint;
- information on a police official the complaint relates to;
- adequate evidence (certified photocopies of all the attached documents);
- complaint applicant's signature.
