Yesterday (27/12/2015), acting upon request of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) and orders of the Prosecutor’s Office B&H, police officials of the Border Police B&H deprived the individual identified by initials IR (1970) of liberty at the border crossing “Uvac” and handed him over to the police officials of SIPA. The individual was deprived of liberty as part of the activities continued under the case codenamed “Lift”.

The individual with initials IR is suspected of having committed the criminal offence of organised crime in conjunction with illicit trafficking in weapons, military equipment and dual use goods. Following criminal processing, the apprehended individual was handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office BH for further proceedings.

Police officials of SIPA, in cooperation with police officials of Herzegovina Neretva MoI and Sarajevo Canton MoI, carried out the operation codenamed “Lift” on 21/12/2015. Six individuals were deprived of liberty in Sarajevo, Mostar and Bugojno due to grounded suspicion of having committed the criminal offence of organised crime in conjunction with illicit trafficking in weapons, military equipment and dual use products. Six locations were searched and considerable quantity of weapons, ammunition, explosives and explosive devices as well as other items that may serve as evidence in further proceedings were found.
