Operation Code-Named “Devetak” – Substantial Quantity of Military Weapons Seized

On 21 May 2013, acting upon orders from the Court and Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, members of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) searched premises at four locations in Vlasenica and Živinice in the operation code-named “Devetak”. These operations were carried out with the assistance from members of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Srpska and Tuzla Canton Ministry of Interior. During the searches, a substantial quantity of military weapons (rifles, machine guns, automatic rifles, semi-automatic rifles), mines and explosive devices weighing 8.2 kg, ammunition of various calibre and other military equipment and items that might be used as evidence in further procedure, were detected and seized.


During this operation, two individuals were arrested on grounds for suspicion of having committed the criminal offence of “Illicit Trafficking in Arms and Military Equipment and Products of Dual Use” set out in the Article 193 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina. They will be criminally processed at the official premises of SIPA’s Regional Office in Tuzla. Two more individuals will be interviewed during the day in relation to the perpetration of this criminal offence.
Upon criminal processing of the suspects, a report on grounds of suspicion on the committed criminal offence and the perpetrators will be submitted to the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
