New Awards for Members of SIPA in UN: Ognjen Crnogorac Awarded with Letter of Commendation

On 30 September 2013, John Nielsen, the Commissioner of the United Nations Police Mission in Liberia, awarded Ognjen Crnogorac, member of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), with the Letter of Commendation for exceptional professionalism and dedication in the performance of duties for UNPOL.

He pointed out good coordination between the UN Police and Liberian National Police (LNP) in the suppression of a conflict between local population and managements of international companies, which occurred in the territory under the responsibility of Ognjen Crnogorac. The conflict eventually resulted in protests and police operation in which organisers of the protests were arrested.

Among other things, the Letter of Commendation states that the leadership of Ognjen Crnogorac and provision of assistance to the local police contributed to the suppression of serious crime in the territory under his responsibility.

“It means a lot to me that my dedication to work has been recognized and that I have promoted the Agency I come from, as well as the country of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is a good example for to the colleagues from the whole world”, said Ognjen Crnogorac, UNPOL Commander of Region 1 and member of SIPA,

The Letter of Commendation is the highest recognition for an UNPOL member, awarded by the Police Commissioner in charge of the entire Mission.
