More than 60 Stolen Disassembled Vehicles Found in Operation by SIPA

In an operation coordinated with members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of Interior and Canton Sarajevo Ministry of Interior, police officials of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) initiated activities on documenting a criminal offence of organised crime in conjunction with vehicle crime in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the framework of these activities, M.M., A.S., Z.Č. and V.S. were arrested in Sokolac due to grounds for suspicion of having committed the criminal offence of organised crime in conjunction with the criminal offence of smuggling and criminal offence of aggravated theft. Upon criminal processing at the official premises of SIPA, three suspects were handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office for further procedure and one individual will be handed over today.

On 8 July 2014, members of SIPA arrested three suspects while they were disassembling stolen vehicles. On site investigation lasted several hours, where according to preliminary results more than eight disassembled vehicles were found.

On 9 July 2014, in the continuation of activities within this case, under the supervision by the Prosecutor’s Office BH, buildings and terrain were searched at several locations in Sokolac. During the searches, more than 60 disassembled high class, new vehicles were found and three undisassembled vehicles suspected of being stolen by the members of the organised criminal group. Parts of the found vehicles are being towed to Sarajevo for further processing.

Activities within this case will be intensively continued, and the public will be duly informed about the outcomes.
