Directions and Modalities for Future Cooperation Agreed

Minister of Internal Affairs of Sweden Anders Ygeman Visited SIPA

Today (02/23/2016) Minister of Internal Affairs of Sweden, Anders Ygeman with associates visited State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) and met with the Director of SIPA, Perica Stanić. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of Sweden to B&H, HE Mr. Fredrik Schiller, Deputy Director of SIPA, Đuro Knezevic, and the Head of the Department for the Prevention and Detection of Organized Crime, Žarko Kalem.

The meeting focused on all aspects of the work of SIPA, its role in the security system of B&H, as well as the current security challenges in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the world, with emphasis on the fight against terrorism as a global threat, and all forms of organized crime. In this context, the meeting participants discussed the issues of departures of B&H nationals to foreign battlefields, conducted operations codenamed "Damask", as well as the cases of organized crime, particularly illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and arms, as well as corruption. The need for cooperation between all relevant bodies at national and international level and continuous exchange of intelligence and information was emphasized, in order to jointly address the most complex security challenges of our time, with special emphasis on proactive action.

Modalities and directions for future cooperation were specified at the meeting and it was concluded that cooperation between SIPA and the relevant authorities of Sweden was very successful, and that it will be further improved in future.

SIPA Director extended gratitude to the Minister Ygeman for the visit, which will contribute to the development and strengthening of partnership between the police authorities.
