Members of SIPA Took Part in First International Special Police Units Workshop

Between 14 and 17 November 2013, upon an invitation by Mr Cemil Tonbul, Commander of the Turkish Special Police Unit, two SIPA members attended the first International Special Police Units Workshop held in Antalya, Republic of Turkey.

Representatives of Special Police Units from Turkey, Albania, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, Macedonia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Jordan and Tunisia took part in this workshop.

The lectures covered topics on combating terrorism and organised crime, with a particular emphasis on regional and international cooperation in combating these types of crime.

 The lectures by renowned experts in these fields and exchange of experience and knowledge are an additional incentive for all the countries participating in the workshop to remain committed to combating the most serious threats of today.

“This type of professional cooperation and experience exchange between special police units in the region and beyond will additionally raise the level of our preparedness for a determined response to all security challenges in our future work”, said Mr Mirsad Vilić, Commander of SIPA’s Special Support Unit, who also attended the workshop.
