Large Amount of Illegal Weapons Found

November 11-12, 2010 - As a part of the continuing activities on detection of illegal weapons, police officials of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) searched houses used by MDŽ (1951) and found a large quantity of weapons in Sarajevo and Konjic.

The search of the above mentioned locations resulted in discovery of a 7,62 calibre M72 automatic rifle with remodelled buttstock, 7,62 mm calibre M70 submachine gun, two rifles with optical sight, passive optical infrared sight for night targeting, rifle silencer, seven hand grenades, improvised device for adjusting snipers as well as a considerable amount of different calibre ammunition.

Today, November 12, 2010, after criminal processing in SIPA premises, MDŽ will be handed over to the competent Prosecutor's Office for further processing, together with a report on the offence committed under Article 371 of the B&H Criminal Code (Illicit Possession of Weapons and Explosive Substances).

The operation was conducted by the orders of the Sarajevo Municipal Court, Sarajevo Cantonal Court as well as Konjic Municipal Court and the Prosecutor’s Office of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton.

The police officials of the State Investigation and Protection Agency will continue the activities on detecting illegal weapons.
