Investigation in Case of Zijad Turković and Others Resulted in 124 Years Prison Sentence

Several years long investigation by police officials of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) and other partner agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina resulted in the first instance verdict pronounced by the Court BH in the case of Zijad Turković and Others, whereby on 28 November 2013 five accused individuals in this case were sentenced to a total of 100 years of prison. When the main hearing began in 2011, seven individuals entered plea agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office BH, for which they were sentenced to 24 years and 6 months of prison.

It is important to point out that the sentences pronounced against the organiser Zijad Turković and his associate Milenko Lakić are the highest prison sentences up to date for criminal offences of organised crime, which is a message to the citizens that the rule of law is present in BH and that the law enforcement agencies are efficient in their work.
