International Drug Smuggling Channel Cut Off – SIPA Seized 22 kg of “Skunk” Marijuana

Members of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), in cooperation with members of the Zenica-Doboj Canton Ministry of Interior and Central Bosnia Canton Ministry of Interior, arrested six individuals suspected of committing the criminal offence set out in the Article 195 of the Criminal Code of BH (“Illicit Trafficking in Narcotics”) in conjunction with the criminal offence set out in the Article 250 of the CC BH (Organised Crime”).
Acting upon orders from the Prosecutor’s Office BH and Zenica-Doboj Canton and Tuzla Canton Prosecutor’s Offices, searches at a number of locations in Tuzla, Zenica and Busovača were carried out and 22 kg of dried plants resembling “skunk” marijuana were found and seized.
In addition, military weapons, mobile telephones, SIM cards and other items that might be related to this criminal offence were also found and seized during the searches.

These activities refer to cutting off an international drug smuggling channel on the Albania–Macedonia–Bosnia and Herzegovina–Croatia route. Namely, according to available information, the drugs were to be smuggled into the Republic of Croatia by a Peugeot passenger car.

In the settlement of Dusina, bordering the Municipality of Busovača, a conflict occurred in a Passat passenger car among four suspects because of unsettled affairs. Thereby, one suspect was injured by a firearm and transported by an ambulance to hospital in Zenica, out of life danger.

The arrested individuals were brought to official premises of the State Investigation and Protection Agency, where they were criminally processed. Subsequently, they will be handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office BH along with a report on the committed criminal offence. Two other individuals are being searched for in relation to this criminal offence. SIPA once again demonstrated its determination in the fight against organised crime in Bosnia and Herzegovina and it will continue similar activities.

We would like to invite media representatives to a press conference about this operation at the official premises of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (Nikole Tesle 59, Istočno Sarajevo) today at 16.00 hours.
