In “Osoje” Operation SIPA Disrupted International Narcotics Smuggling Channel

On 19 September 2013, acting upon orders by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Prosecutor’s Office BH, in the framework of the “Osoje” operation, members of the State Investigation and protection Agency (SIPA) arrested 14 individuals due to grounds for suspicion of having committed the criminal offence set out in the Article 250 of the Criminal Code BH “Organised Crime”, in conjunction with the criminal offence set out in the Article 195 of the CC BH “Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs”.
The arrested individuals are D.D. (DOB 1974), S.H. (DOB 1966), A.D. (DOB 1977), V.S. (DOB 1984), J.Ć. (DOB 1978) and M.M. (DOB 1983) from Mostar, P.B. (DOB 1960) and M.B. (DOB 1988) from Posušje, M.P. (DOB 1957) from Čitluk, D.T. (DOB 1979), I.L. (DOB 1977) and S.D. (DOB 1978) from Čapljina, A.A. (DOB 1982) from Tuzla and E.A. (DOB 1980) from Sarajevo.
Searches at thirteen locations are underway in Mostar, Sarajevo, Tuzla, Čapljina, Čitluk and Posušje. All the activities have been carried out with the assistance from the members of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Ministry of Interior, West Herzegovina Canton Ministry of Interior, Tuzla Canton Ministry of Interior and Border Police BH.
As a part of this operation, on 16 September 2013, members of SIPA prevented an escape of the prime suspect A.B. (DOB 1976) from Mostar, who was arrested in Posušje Municipality, in the near vicinity of the Gornji Vinjani border crossing point. A.B. intended to escape to the West European countries.
A several month long investigation preceded the operation, whereby the SIPA police officials documented international illicit trafficking and distribution of narcotics during the investigations, which included 6 kg of heroin and an amount of cocaine and marijuana. The suspects are multiple recidivists in the perpetration of crimes and they operated in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia.
The arrested individuals were brought to the official premises of the Mostar Regional Office of the State Investigation and Protection Agency where they will be criminally processed and handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office BH for further processing.
