In Operation “Pelegrino” SIPA Arrested Five Individuals for Corruption

On 26 February 2014, acting upon orders by the Court BH and Prosecutor’s Office BH, police officials of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), in “Pelegrino” operation, arrested five individuals for corruption in Mostar, Čitluk and Široki Brijeg.

The individuals B.K. (DOB 1978), J.K. (DOB 1980), V.P. (DOB 1987), A.M. (DOB 1989) and a foreign national L.C. (DOB 1969) were arrested due to grounds for suspicion of having committed a criminal offence set out in Article 250 of the Criminal Code of BH “Organised Crime” in conjunction with a criminal offence set out in Article 220 of CC BH “Abuse of Office or Official Authority”, criminal offence set out in Article 217 of CC BH “Accepting Gifts and Other Forms of Benefits” and criminal offence set out in Article 295 of CC FBH “Extortion”. Responsible persons from the institutions of BH, namely two members of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of BH, were among the arrested individuals.

Searches were carried out at nine locations in Mostar, Čitluk, Međugorje and Široki Brijeg, including official premises of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of BH Field Offices in Mostar, aimed at finding items that could be used as evidence in further proceedings.

These activities were carried out in cooperation with members of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of BH and with the assistance from members of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Ministry of Interior and West Herzegovina Ministry of Interior.

The arrested individuals were taken to the official premises of the State Investigation and Protection Agency, where they were criminally processed and then handed over for further procedure to the Prosecutor’s Office BH along with the report on the committed criminal offence and perpetrators.
