In Operation “Damask” Bombs, Rifles, Ammunition and Other Items Found and Seized

On 3 September 2014, police officials of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies in BH, carried out an anti-terrorist operation code-named “Damask”, when 16 individuals were arrested and buildings at several locations in BH were searched.

Upon criminal processing at the official premises of SIPA, in line with guidelines by the acting Prosecutor, on 5 September 2014, police officials of SIPA handed over H.B. (DOB 1972), I.D. (DOB 1971), M.K. (DOB 1980), E.H. (DOB 1992), E.M. (DOB 1987), S.H. (DOB 1979), A.H. (DOB 1991), J.J. (DOB 1987) and A.K. (DOB 1983), the individuals arrested in this operation, along with the report on the perpetrated criminal offence, to the Prosecutor’s Office BH for further procedure.

Against these individuals SIPA submitted a report on the perpetrated criminal offence and perpetrators to the Prosecutors Office BH due to grounds for suspicion of having committed criminal offences of financing of terrorist activities, public incitement to terrorist activities, recruitment for terrorist activities, organising a terrorist group, all in conjunction with the criminal offence of terrorism.

In the framework of the operation “Damask”, buildings at 17 locations were searched, whereby hand grenades, machine guns, semi-automatic rifles, air rifles and other types of rifles, guns, ammunition clips, various calibre ammunition, camouflage bulletproof vests and assault vests were found and seized. In addition, computers and computer equipment, data storage devices, mobile telephones, SIM cards, propaganda materials (CDs, DVDs, pamphlets, books, flags, etc.) various notes, lists and other items that might be used as evidence in further proceedings were seized.

The activities within the “Damask” case are continued with the aim of identifying all the perpetrators and documenting all criminal offences.
