FN Herstal Representatives from Belgium Visited SIPA – Joint Training Held

On 21 October 2014, representatives of the FN Herstal company from Belgium, one of the most renowned global arms manufacturers, visited the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA). The FN Herstal representatives were guests of the KM Trade company in Bosnia and Herzegovina and expressed a wish to visit SIPA.

During the visit to SIPA, they met with Goran Zubac, Director of SIPA, Jovica Mirosavljević, Acting Deputy Head of the Special Support Unit and Ernad Musić, Acting Head of Cabinet. SIPA had previously procured contemporary weapons for the Special Support Unit from the FN Herstal, through the KM Trade Company.

During the visit, a joint training was held with members of the Special Support Unit with a technical assistance from FN Herstal representatives that would improve the level of SSU operational capacity.

The Director of SIPA expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation with these companies, pointed out that their representatives demonstrated a high level of professionalism and expressed his gratitude for the support in the capacity building of SIPA.

The FN Herstal representatives thanked for the given confidence and emphasised that it was their honour to cooperate with SIPA, which has become a distinctive law enforcement agency in Europe and beyond.

In the framework of continuous modernisation process and material and technical capacity building, modelled after the best global practices, SIPA already procured weapons of Belgian origin from FN Herstal, including 5.56x45 mm cal. Scar-L CQC rifles and P90 submachine guns.
