Five Members of Criminal Organisation Arrested in Operation “Sunce”

  

In early morning hours on 18 August 2014, in the framework of a joint operation code-named “Sunce”, police officials of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), in cooperation with members of the Canton 10 Ministry of Interior and members of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Ministry of Interior, arrested five individuals in Mostar.

A.K., Š.P., V.S., S.S. and D.S. were arrested due to grounds for suspicion of having committed a criminal offence of aggravated theft as members of a criminal organisation. These individuals are suspected of perpetrating a number of robberies in Herzegovina.

Some of the individuals arrested in this operation had already been processed within the case code-named “Lutka” and they are on court measures, and some of suspected individuals are still at large.

In the framework of this operation, a substantial quantity (a truck) of cigarettes was seized that had been stolen in early morning hours in Mostar, and investigative activities are under way at the location of the detection. Searches of buildings at several locations are still ongoing with the aim of finding and seizing items that might be used as evidence in further proceedings.

These activities have been carried out upon orders by the Mostar Cantonal Court and Herzegovina Neretva Canton Prosecutor’s Office in coordination with the Prosecutor’s Office BH.

The arrested individuals were brought to official premises of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Ministry of Interior, where they will be criminally processed and then within a legislative timeframe they will be handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office for further procedure.
Activities within this case will be continued and the public will be duly informed about the outcomes.
