Faculty of Political Science Postgraduate Students Visited SIPA

Today (20/11/2014) - Students of the final year of postgraduate studies at the Department for Security and Peace Studies of the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo accompanied by Vlado Azinović, Professor, PhD, visited the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA).

During the visit, the students were presented the organisational structure, competence and role of SIPA within the security system of B&H. Given that one of the subject areas of the Department for Security and Peace Studies is “Terrorism and Political Violence” the students were lectured on the phenomenon of terrorism as a serious global threat. The lecture was delivered by Amer Veiz, Acting Head of Section for Combating Terrorism and CBRN and the lecture covered, among other issues, some concrete examples and case studies on which the Agency worked in the previous period.

The students also visited the HQ of SIPA Special Support Unit and were presented a role and tasks of this elite unit as well as a part of its equipment.

It was concluded that the visit was very successful and with multiple benefits as it represented a continuation of a successful cooperation between the State Investigation and Protection Agency and Department for Security and Peace Studies of the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Political Science.
