Eight-Member Organised Group Dismantled

Continuing activities in detection of the criminal offences of organised crime and illicit trafficking in narcotics, on February 16th 2011, the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) police officials, in cooperation with other police agencies, apprehended eight individuals and carried out searches in eight locations.

In the action carried out by SIPA, B&H Border Police, Herzegovina-Neretva Canton MoI, West Herzegovina Canton MoI, and Livno Canton MoI, individuals with the following initials were apprehended: A.Š. (DOB 1983), I.Č. (DOB 1978), T.T. (DOB 1974), R.H. (DOB 1986), D.V. (DOB 1983), A.S. (DOB 1972), J.P. (DOB 1979) i M.P. (DOB 1989).

In a search of premises that the apprehended individuals owned or used in the area of Livno (4 locations), Medugorje (2 locations), Mostar (1 location) and Ljubuski (1 location) two rifles, two handguns, various calibre ammunition, 23 mobile phones, 35 SIM cards, one PC, 50 BAM banknote suspected of being falsified, baseball bat, etc. were detected and seized.

The apprehended individuals, along with a report on the committed criminal offence set out in the Article 250 of the CC B&H (Organised Crime) in conjunction with the criminal offence set out in the Article 195 of the CC B&H (Illicit Trafficking in Narcotics), upon criminal and technical processing, will be handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office B&H for further processing.

Today’s action code named “Prenj 5” is a continuation of activities initiated in May 2010 code named “Prenj”, then “Prenj 2”, “Prenj 3” and “Prenj 4” during which 43 individuals were apprehended, against whom the reports on the committed criminal offences were submitted to the competent Prosecutor’s Office.

During the execution of the aforementioned activities, around 30 kilos of the narcotic drug “Skunk” were confiscated from the suspects. Likewise, via controlled deliveries towards Croatia, more that 150 kg of the same drug was documented. During the past two years trafficking in several hundred kilos of this narcotic was documented in other ways. Within these activities, a large amount of weapons was seized (rifles, guns, ammunition, etc.) and a number of passenger motor vehicles, mobile phones and SIM cards, etc.

In carrying out “Prenj” operation a good cooperation with the MoI of the Republic of Croatia, B&H Border Police, Livno Canton MoI, Herzegovina-Neretva Canton MoI and West Herzegovina Canton MoI was established.

The State Investigation and Protection Agency police officials will continue their activities with the aim of preventing, detecting and investigating organised crime and illicit trafficking in narcotic substances.
