Delegation of SIPA Visited Republic of Austria Ministry of Interior

From 28 May to 30 May 2013, the delegation of the State Investigation and Protection Agency was in an official visit to police authorities of the Republic of Austria with the aim of improving cooperation in the fight against all types of organised crime and terrorism.
The delegation of SIPA, headed by Mr Goran Zubac, Director of the Agency, along with the Assistant Director for the Criminal Investigation Department and Acting Head of the Section for Combating Terrorism and Trafficking in Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Weapons, held a meeting with the General Director for Public Security of the Republic of Austria. At the meeting, the current local and international security situation was discussed, as well as future joint efforts with the formation of joint investigative teams. During the visit, the delegation of SIPA held a meeting with the Head of the Federal Criminal Police Office and Director of the Federal Agency for the Protection of the Constitution and Counterterrorism of the Republic of Austria. The visit to the EKO Cobra, Special Unit of Austrian Police was organised as well.
 

A direct exchange of intelligence between police agencies was carried out at the meetings and specific future cooperation was agreed. In the following two weeks, the wok of the joint investigative teams for specific cases of organised crime will be initiated with the coordination by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Austria.
The General Director for Public Security of Austria and his closest associates completely supported the idea by SIPA to establish the Regional Anti-Terrorism Centre within the State Investigation and Protection Agency, with the task to combat terrorism in the Balkans.
