‘Crime-Stoppers’ in August: 415 Calls and 104 Useful Information

In August 2013, the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) police officials registered 415 calls to the ‘Crime-Stoppers’ hotline, of which 175 were assessed as not serious.
In the mentioned period, citizens submitted 104 useful information about planned or committed criminal offences and their perpetrators based on which the same number of reports was made.
The majority of information was related to criminal offences of abusing official duties and responsibilities (20), illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs (16), and other criminal offences.
Out of the total number of useful information, 104 of them, along with the reports, were forwarded for further processing to competent police authorities in B&H and 14 information were related to criminal offences from SIPA’s competence.
Within the reporting period, 47 pieces of feedback were received from the competent police authorities in relation to the earlier information received through crime-stoppers hotline, based on which it was determined that the relevant Prosecutor’s Offices received 2 reports on committed criminal offence and perpetrators, while 4 reports were submitted to the relevant prosecutor’s office for evaluation.
In addition, SIPA’s police officials gave 136 recommendations to the citizens who contacted them via the anonymous and free of charge ‘Crime-Stoppers’ telephone number – 080 020 505.
