Close to 11.500 Pirated Sound and Image Carriers Seized in Herzegovina

On October 20th 2010, as a part of continuous activities for the protection of copyrights, State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) police officials detected and seized close to 11.500 pirated image and sound carries in searches carried out in Herzegovina.

Most of the pirated image and sound carriers were found in Siroki Brijeg, where 8.779 pieces of pirated goods were found in a search of two business properties. In a search of a business property in Orasje, close to 1.680 pirated CDs and DVDs were found, and almost 1.000 pieces were found in Tomislavgrad.

The action was carried out upon the orders from the Court of B&H, with a support of West Herzegovina Canton Ministry of Interior and Livno Canton MOI officials.

The seized goods were stored in the State Investigation and Protection Agency’s storage. Upon criminal processing, a report on the committed criminal offence against the individuals with whom the pirated image and sound carriers were found will be forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office of B&H on grounds for suspicion that they committed a criminal offence set out in the Article 243 of the CC B&H (Impermissible Use of Copyright).
