Operation Code-Named “Tešanj” – SIPA Found Substantial Amount of Arms

On 8 July 2013, acting upon orders by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Prosecutor’s Office BH, members of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), with the assistance from members of the Armed Forces BH, in the framework of the operation code-named “Tešanj”, initiated searches of the terrain in the village of Kolaševići, Tešanj Municipality, whereby they found a substantial amount of arms and anti-tank explosive devices.
In the framework of these activities, 588 cumulative missiles for handheld rocket launchers – RPG and 589 propellants for missiles were found and excavated. In addition, 60 missiles for an 84 mm recoilless gun were also found. In the opinion of a relevant expert in this area, these missiles are of Iranian and Swedish origin.
According to the available intelligence, the arms were hidden in this location in a planned and organised manner in 2002 by the order of individuals who performed official duties with local authorities. After the war ended, the weapons were not handed over during the “Žetva” action or to international authorities for the implementation of peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Police officials of the State Investigation and Protection Agency will continue activities within this case in line with their competences, with the aim of identifying all responsible individuals and documenting their illegal activities, pursuant to the Action Plan and Strategy for the Terrorism Prevention and Combating.
During these activities, there was an exceptional cooperation with members of the Armed Forces BH. SIPA would like to express gratitude to the Zenica-Doboj Ministry of Interior for their assistance, as well as to members of the FBI and NATO in BH for their support.
