Modriča: 24 Mortar Shells Found


On 3 August 2012, the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) police officials, owing to information received from the Tuzla Canton Ministry of Interior, found 24 120 mm calibre mortar shells in the area of Modriča municipality.

The shells, assumed leftover weapons from the previous war, were packed in 12 military boxes and hidden in a forest near a former boundary demarcation.

On Saturday, 4 August 2012, upon an investigation, the identified unexploded devices, with the assistance from the members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of Interior and the Republic of Srpska Civil Protection Administration, were removed and stored at a military barracks warehouse in Doboj.

The Prosecutor’s Office BH was informed about this event.
