On 14 December 2012, police officials of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), in cooperation with members of the Indirect Taxation Authority, detected and seized a substantial quantity of counterfeit clothes, counterfeit logos and labels of renowned sports equipment brands, worth approximately BAM 100.000.

In searches carried out at four residential and business buildings, three of which are in the Brčko District and one in Srebrenik, circa 46.000 of counterfeit brand logos (Nike, Puma, Tom Taylor, Diesel, Kappa, Lacoste, Adidas, Armani, etc.) were found and seized, as well as around 1.050 track suits, 745 of which had embroidered labels of Nike and Adidas, 20.000 textile labels, 18.000 declarations for different brands, 25.000 labels of different brands for thermal padding and an embroidering machine for brand logos. At one of the searched buildings owned by a citizen of the P.R. China, a substantial quantity of stored clothes with no supporting documentation was found.

The owners of the searched buildings will be interviewed as suspects in SIPA’s premises, whereupon reports on the procedure will be submitted to the Prosecutor’s Office BH and Court BH. These found and seized items, for which there are grounds for suspicion of originating from the perpetration of the criminal offence set out in the Article 209 of the Criminal Code BH (Forgery of Trademarks, Measures and Weights) in conjunction with the Article 49 of the Law on Seal BH, will be provisionally stored at storage facilities of the Indirect Taxation Authority.

These activities were carried out by police officials of SIPA and the Indirect Taxation Authority upon the order from the Court BH.
