Operation "Povratnik": Searches conducted at ten locations

Six individuals apprehended for illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs

Yesterday (16/8/2017), police officials of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), in cooperation with police officals of Brčko District Police, started an operational action codenamed „Povratnik“, directed against illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs.

Six individuals were apprehended on the territory of Brčko District due to grounds for suspicion of having committed the criminal offence of organised crime in conjunction with criminal offence of illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs. One more individual was interrogated as a suspect and released after interrogation. The police are looking for one more suspect.

The individuals concerned are suspected of having purchased a narcotic drug herion, in cooperation with individuals from the Republic of Serbia, during the period from September 2016 to August 2017. The herion was later distributed and sold on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. They are also suspected of having purchased and distributed narcotic drugs marijuana and speed on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. After criminal proceedings that is still ongoing, the apprehended individuals will be handed over to the Prosecutor's Office of B&H during the day.

The search of premises was conducted at ten locations on the territory of Brčko District and Tuzla, with the aim of recovery and temporary seizure of assets that may serve as evidence in further proceedings. The search resulted in discovery of approximately 600 grams of powder-like substance preliminary identified a narcotic drug herion, 100 grams of a dried herbacious substance preliminary identified a narcotic drug marijuana, several ecstasy pills, digital scale, foils and scotch tapes used for making packages of narcotic drugs, a gun with ammunition without licence, laptops, computers, mobile phones and SIM cards, data storage devices, documents, notes and planners, certain amount of gold and the amonut of approximately 30.000 BAM.

The activities were carried out upon the orders of the Court of B&H and the Prosecutor's Office of B&H, with the assistance of police officals of the Ministry of Interior of Tuzla Canton.

While working on this case, police officials of SIPA have established a successful cooperation with police officials of Brčko District Police and Ministry of Interior of Tuzla Canton. Police authorities once again showed that they jointly work towards the same goal, which is the fight against crime and the creation of safe environment for all citizens of B&H.
